With its fifth appearance among the Bryan Rotary Club/Newman 10 Business Performance Award recipients, MacResource Computers and Service has been recognized as being among the fastest-growing local businesses more than any other recipient in the program's 14 year-history.
"It is an honor we really enjoy and cherish," says Carolyn Turk. "Having the award is gratifying because a large part of our business is not observable locally. A large portion of our sales and service reaches beyond Bryan/College Station."
Texas A&M University graduates Carolyn and Buckey Turk have taken a home-based business of refurbishing and selling individual computers and transformed it into a diversified computer sales and service company of significant and sustained growth. "You have a vision and the ability to evaluate and re-evaluate the vision," says Carolyn Turk. "Manage your money, know where you stand."
Operating both a commercial storefront locally and robust web operation on the internet, MacResource has become the Apple-designated reseller to Texas A&M University. Recognized in 2005 and 2006 as being among the 100 fastest-growing Aggie-owned businesses in the world, the Turks plan to maintain the phenomenal success of MacResource through perseverance and relationship building.
"Often it can take time to build the relationship or acquire an opportunity that will grow into future business," says Carolyn Turk. "One such acquisition took five years to realize, but within six months of finally coming to be, the sales exceed 40% of our total revenue."
