When it comes to pest control, Scott Lingren knows insects—and the business. His first job in the field was at age 10, working with his father on cotton pest control research. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree, master's degree and Ph.D. in Entomology and is a Board Certified Entomologist.
In 2001, Lingren left his job in entomology research to become an entrepreneur and opened Venus Pest Company. Since then, the company has grown to support five employees and makes its second appearance among the fastest growing businesses in the Brazos Valley.
“This is a great opportunity to demonstrate through this recognition that businesses can continue to grow and thrive in this outstanding community, even with the bad national economy,” says Lingren.
Venus Pest Company delivers Integrated Pest Management (IPM), a scientific approach to pest control. The process reduces reliance on pesticides through detailed inspections, pest exclusion, pest habitat removal, non-chemical control methods and the judicious use of pesticides.
“In 2001, we started as strictly an organic market for pest control but expanded to more conventional control,” says Lingren. “Our growth is due to internal training and customer referral because of our reputation for being responsive.”
Offering an environmentally-friendly approach to pest control is important to Venus Pest Company, but being customer-friendly, is, too.
“Venus Pest Company is a community-oriented company,” says Lingren. “We are committed to providing families and businesses with solutions to the aesthetic and public health problems created by household pests and mosquitoes, as well as giving back to and being involved in the community.”
